Hello peeps! So I'm looking into getting a gaming headset for my PC and thought why not ask peoples opinions on what they have and like?

So what's your setup? Do you like what you have?

I currently have been using my UE6000 for gaming. They have great sound to me but I want to do surround gaming and don't know which direction to go. So lets hear it peeps! :)

I have some Logitech G35's that are on their way out. I've recently got some Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium's and put a modmic 4.0 on it.

I use the Audio Technica M50X and just use the mic on my webcam lol. Works for me. Sound quality on the headphones are fantastic and they are really comfy for me. I tried a Corsair gaming headset a while back. The audio quality sounded a bit "artificial" I guess. Not sure how things have improved in recent times though. The mic on it was great though.

You could stick a modmic 4.0 on those cans should your current setup break ;)

Do you do or get surround sound with software using those? I want to hear what direction things are in. Not just stereo. I mean my ue6000 sound amazing to me. If there is a software for surround to enable, I will try it. I know most headsets are stereo with software but will the software work for any stereo set?

I use a Bluetooth earpiece for chat, and stereo speakers for all other audio.
I have the Logitech G930 and also a G330, but I rarely use either.
I'm not really a fan of surround sound in general, for anything (movies, games, music). I will embrace surround sound when VR tech becomes ubiquitous, but until then, a sound coming from behind me is just distracting- I'd rather just have stereo.

I realize that surround might possibly give you a slight advantage in competitive games, but imo if you're that hell bent on getting the upper hand you're too concerned with winning to actually enjoy yourself. All games use a combination of visual cues and virtual surround sound to indicate direction anyway.

I don't personally use surround. I think I could enable surround on my sound card but haven't tried.

The modmic is a dedicated microphone - its audio quality is far far better than a webcam.

Yeah a plus of a dedicated solution for sure is the overall audio quality. I think the audio from my webcam can peak occasionally when I talk loud but it doesn't happen too often.

Recently built my own PC and bought an Xbox One Stereo Headset for my Xbox one originally. I'll have to try it with my PC and see how well it works.

I'm not really in it for the competitive play. Sure its nice to be competitive but I just wanted to try it out. I get lost in games as it is.

I'm thinking I may try the new Polk Striker P1 when its released sometime this month. If it doesn't work for me I may just add this modmic thing and go with that for a bit I suppose.

I built my PC too. I put my rig parts in a forum post on rig specs. Check it out. What's in your build?

Sweet build. 970s are awesome! I didn't know we had a thread for that. Thanks for showing me! I just added mine.

Your welcome! Yea I love my 970. Great card! But I wont move from 1080p till 4k comes down to current 1080 prices. So my card should last for a long while. Though I do plan on to sli. Also have you tried DSR yet? Makes 1080p life last a bit longer lol! You got a pretty nice build as well. These things are like little babies haha

I am still using Steelseries siberia v2 for my gaming headset.
Really good performance for my gaming need.
