Hello all, I'm semi-new to Window's phone. I had a Lumia 520 for a couple of weeks and then sold it go get a 920 that I bought online. I had some issues as soon as I started using it. It was pre-owned. The previous owner said they used it for a few weeks. I got the dreaded constant spinning gears when I tried to erase the phone. That was fun to deal with.

Now, I'm trying to get all the updates for it to use some neat features like the tap to wake. I was able to successfully do it for the 520 I had, so I thought I'd have no issues doing it on this 920. I was wrong. I've done the "Check for Updates" on the phone several times and it was able to update a few things (at least it said so). However, I'm not seeing the updates I need to do tap to wake like I did when I updated the 520. From what I understand, this new feature should be found in: Settings > Display + Touch.

But, the only option there now is Sensitivity (either low or high). So, I know I didn't get the update that I need. Please help me figure this out. Thanks,

Try this, install SysApp or Lumia System update to install specific system apps like Touch, Glance Extras and info etc... That should do the trick

I'm not %100 sure but if you used Nokia Software Updater for Retail it should automatically update to the newest WP update

App updates are not system updates and you can't get them with "check for updates", you'll receive them in the store app if you have it pinned on the home screen

I recently acquired a Lumia 820 that had not been updated to GDR2/Amber. I went to "check for updates". I had to try 3 times before it updates to GDR2/Amber. The phone would download the update and then install. However, when I checked the firmware version, it was the same as before. Finally, on the 3rd try it worked. I then installed the Preview for Developers App. I have an account already, having updated my 520 to GDR3/Black. I then went to check for updates in settings, and it downloaded GDR3/Black.
