Lowering exposure may cause more natural photos = not too bright but still enough because of long shutter time

Street lamps for example can be a pain in the ***, but sometimes you can fix the burning with lowering exposure value.

I think it would be nice to have a dedicated thread with photography tips. Even better if it is pinned like this one so that noobs of photography like can learn a few things.

I'm completely with you!
all of the tips you guys have posted here are really useful, but there are still a lot of holes... And with this new camera i've been like crazy Reading and then practicing. It's like that lowering exposure thing, the night lights burn the pic, how can i correct that?

I follow this thread for a long time, I must say: wonderful photos, amazing night shots, it is pleasure to view these images.

But.... Is it just me, or does also anybody here see that almost half of the pictures has one common issue - the huge amount of blur in the right bottom corner?
It has to be a hidden flaw of many lumia camera modules....

Here is little contribution to this thread from my side. All images are unedited and are taken on auto. Any comments to improve the quality by tweaking settings are welcome. I would like to learn to take better photos.

Some photos from my home.

Some attempts at panorama with Nokia's panorama lens. I could never get it to go in straight line.(You can see smudging in photo). If anyone could give me tips that would be nice.

(I am unable to attach panorama images, upload is failing after upload is complete, will try later)

disturbing, lemme check some of mine

crops of just the right corner
1. focused on the corner

2. focused on the center

3. default focus (1/2 click on the shutter)

it's noticeable, but does not look too bad, at least for me

Bee.jpg

Snapped with my L920 whilst walking the dogs. Cropped and sharpened in Photoshop (often necessary with any camera that produces JPEGs). Here's the full frame so you can see the size of the insect relative to the whole image:
