djeire84 and mary beth, I understand now and thanks for pointing out this new software for me, I had no idea perhaps because I haven't bothered with WP10TP and the insider program. Anyway, I uninstalled the LSRT and setup the new Windows Phone Recovery Tool, very windows 8 compared to the older NSRT or LSRT, nice
It stated that my current firmware and the available was as follows;
Current firmware: 3051.50009.1451.1008
Server firmware: 3051.50009.1424.0008
I nuked my 925 and this took me back to Cyan, no folders and no Cortana, which I don't mind really; I spent quite a bit of time yesterday reinstalling applications and getting my email back up and running, lots of updates etc, finally culminating in the Denim update and getting folders back. I'll monitor the WiFi over the coming days but first impressions are that it is possibly slightly better
I aren't sure as this is such a subjective thing, the signal is not as good as it is on the OnePlus One or my old Motorola X (2013), but it never was even when new and before the screen replacement, but I have had a connection in one part of my house that would always lose connection previously, the icon in the taskbar looks very weak but it may well have improved it, like I say I'll monitor it and thank you both for pointing out the WPRT.
gordonfink, sorry you damaged your 925 although you are braver than me. After taking a look at a disassembly video earlier I've decided to leave taking the back off and doing a bit of DIY, Harrie got me to take a look at a youtube video and I just don't think that is something I dare try, in the video they use a suction cup on the upper right as you look at the back and then work around from that top corner in an anticlockwise direction, I think it was a Nokia video for tech support teams. I think I understand what you are saying but like I say, after seeing that video I'm going to stay away from doing this myself.
