Neat.

I bought a Netgear cm1000 about 4 weeks ago. One of the only 2 certified docsis 3.1 modems I could find local that my provider supports. About 200.00 later I have an "advertised" 1Gbps download speed 😉
I only have 70 Mbps down and 7 Mbps up on the plan I have. That's the best available here.

It's probably the most you'll really need.
1Gbs is overkill for us honestly. I found we were paying 15 dollars less for 1/10 of that. So I decided to jump on the Giga band wagon to see how it goes. The only thing it benefits mostly is if you have many devices connected to the same network and they stream media or need download bandwidth often.. Because the bandwidth is greater on Gig account you can sustain more or the same devices on the same network with multiple streams in parallel and what not. The download speed is greater only when less or the least traffic is happening.
One of our PCs used to freeze while streaming YouTube while a laptop is streaming, our phones connected, I'm on VPN and doing a big download. Scenarios like that don't happen often but when they do we should not see a frozen YouTube stream anymore.

The iPad took an unexpected dump this morning. The new Acer Chromebook with a Wacom stylus was nice but I went with this Samsung instead.

Ooh! That looks nice. Good luck with it.

Thanks Laura. I wanted something with a stylus silo and this fit the bill nicely. One of my colleagues has the iPad Pro 12.9 and it's heavier than this without the keyboard. I'll just have to get used to not having LTE onboard. Oh well, such a 1st world problem.
