You know, (sarcastically speaking) you look good the more expensive the item is that you use on yourself.

So this Will be the first time in long time... And you'll be happy to know you're prediction was correct according to my wife.

I understand completely. I still need to visit the salon, since I'm not trusting myself to do cut/colour, and I'm not shaving my head. I'm sure you and your wife understand that!

Pool pump died last week - new pump installed with updated electrical and piping. Whew that was a bit of work!

Remember that stereo I posted pics of way back in March? Well I'm finally installing it in my truck. Just tidying a few wires and then put the dash back together.

This brings back so many memories! I sold high-end car audio systems for years - you did a nice job installing. Looks good for an aftermarket head-unit. Any issues getting it centered or connected with the vehicle? Nice job!

Thanks! I love that the dash kit makes it look absolutely factory. It was definitely the most challenging install I've done. Because the kit supports multiple versions of the RR module, it made figuring out which cables to use and where to plug everything in (there are probably 8 plugs connected to that tiny box!) a lot more fun. It did take a few adjustments to get it perfectly positioned on all three axes. Side to side and hand down was fairly simple, but getting not to sit as far out as possible to keep from having a gap on the sides required more trial and error as you have to remove the brackets and adjust their position on the radio. The kit is very good but not perfect. I actually had to bend the bottom of the radio brackets (that came WITH the kit) out to the sides so they wouldn't hit the housing for the controls on the panel.

That's why I will never touch install or use another head unit unless forced too. As Of two years ago I discovered I'd rather run a DSP as a source unit for audio, this way I can hide or install it anywhere I'd like and still leave the factory stuff in place.

Yeah I'm not sure if I'll ever want to do another, but I hated using the small factory screen for the backup camera, and it's non-touch, so you have to use buttons to navigate and play music from a flash drive. There really wasn't any good place to mount something or I might have installed a raspberry pi with a touchscreen for multimedia playback and run it through the factory aux port.

I'm waiting to find a windows tablet that supports aptx or I could do a dongle. Otherwise my phones suffice. DSP + Bluetooth or DSP + line in from another DAC works. However having the convenience of a touch screen is understandable. I just have zero use for any, I'm kinda old school like that.

The one thing I wasn't happy with was the quality of the factory backup camera on the radio display. Don't know if the camera isn't that great or if the adapter causes some loss in quality. Today I took the dash panel back off and tested it with my old Sony camcorder and my digital camera, and both look better than the backup camera. I found some display adjustments for the camera display in the radio settings, and while it's not perfect, it seems much better in limited testing backing up to my trailer after sunset. I also cleaned the lense, which only helped slightly before I adjusted the display.

OK I'm cheating a bit here. I didn't get a replacement for my Charge2, but got a couple of shiny faux-metal clip-on protector for the missus' Garmin Vivo

Mayflash Arcade Stick F300 Elite

It works very well. Despite it needing to be connected to a Xbox controller, it's still very responsive. I haven't used an arcade stick in years so it's taking some getting use to. Right now I'm using it for Streets of Rage 4. After that, I'm jumping over to fighting games.

Back when I had a Nintendo 64/Super Nintendo and the standard Nintendo I always wished a 3rd party joy stick controller would come out. I had to settle for the one made by Nintendo. Gaming at home and online is so huge now it is neat to see all the different changes rolling in, even if it is something as simple as an arcade style joy stick.
