Hi!

Frequently I run into situation that I would need to be able to print something from my wp8 (Lumia 920 currently) phone. Mostly like an e-mail, pdf-file or #Evernote document.

My current printer (HP LaserJet 1022nw) is not an ePrinter and seems I have problems connecting my printer to Google Print too... :(

Did some searching over the net and seems this printing feature on #wp is not on high priority / request either.

I don't think it would be possible to use that printer with any smartphone. It doesn't support Bluetooth. From HP's site:
Hewlett-Packard does not support the use of Bluetooth (HP bt1300) as a connectivity option for the HP LaserJet 1020 or 1022 series printers.
Prior data sheets and other documentation incorrectly stated that Bluetooth was a supported option with these products; however, it is not a tested option. Please see the updated data sheets for the available connectivity options for these products.

If you have your PC on and use Chrome, you should be able to set up Google Cloud printing through that.

Yes... But how the printing is then enabled from Lumia WP phone e.g. from mail client, Adobe pdf reader and Evernote?

If 8.1 allows apps to send data to each other like in Android, it should be possible for someone to write an app that accepts common formats and forwards them to Cloud Print. I think I read somewhere that they were working on something for data sharing, so could happen soon.

Print Now | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

I found this a while ago. I haven't really tested it yet though. From screenshots it seems to support Skydrive and onenote, so ditch everest and stick to onenote :)
It works trough google cloud print, so if you can't get your printer connected to it, you're kinda out of luck. Even android printing only works trough cloud print (or hpeprint, which is more or less the same thing). If your printer doesn't have internet (eprint) then the only way to print is trough networked pc and appropriate drivers (so no WP), and usb cable (again no WP).

Why don't they just enable printing through Wi-Fi like in Windows RT? Considering they are unifying the OS, I would hope porting the printing functionality would be simple enough since it's already done.

But I guess that would not solve the challenge of printer drivers? But yes, if that exists (in RT), that could come to WP too...

Drivers could be solved the same way they are on desktop. When it connects the device, it searches windows update for drivers. Restart the phone, and voila. Proper printing (not just cloud printing) could be quite useful.
