Problems with Windows 10 update on a 32 gb laptop

Hi, I need help on this. It is said that if you want to update the windows 10 pro on a 32 GB laptop,you need to create a windows 10 pro bootable usb on another PC using the media creation tool. I have a another windows tablet that runs on windows 8.1. When I try to install the media creation tool into a usb using my windows 8.1 tablet laptop, it does not allow me to.

Instead of using another laptop, can I just download the media creation tool on my current windows 10 pro laptop and save it on my 64 gb microsd card (My current laptop has a microsd card slot)? Then run the windows 10 pro update from the microsd card? Kindly advice.
