proof the Nokia/AT&T advertising push is working?

I've seen a few Nokia Lumia 800's around, my dad and cousin have one each, I have a TITAN. It seems to be the Lumia's that people are getting if they get a WP7 device... Now at uni, I kinda became the face of WP7 at the radio station, and now one of the exec bought a HTC Radar. In the uni's cheerleading squad and the uni's musical theatre group, I am still the only WP7 user. However I was talking to one of the boyfriend of one of the cheerleaders that I know, and he was convinced my TITAN was quad-core. It was just that fast and that smooth. You can imagine the shock when he found out it was one single core powering the smartphone. Tried to persuade my best mate to get a WP7 but she was insistent on iPhone, and proceeds to blast me down every time I say WP7 is better than iPhone.

I know 2 people with the Lumia 710, one person with the Focus, and another with the Focus Flash. And unlike a lot of my friends with Android phones, each person is VERY satisfied with their phone. :D

Oh, and I gave a friend my old HTC Surround since they did not have a phone, and they really like it.

I've been harking on about how Windows Phone needs to adopt Qualcomm's S4 chip in order to stay competitive and stay ahead for a while now. But a family member recently got a Lumia 800, and it's already damn fast - considerably faster than my Omnia. Makes me all the more giddy for Apollo, Microsoft could be the one to get to a UI that actually feels pretty close to reality (ie no glitches or lag to break the illusion).

You're a terrible person :]

Do you guys actually going around staring at people's phone screens?

Unless someone is waving their phone around, it's not very often that I notice what anyone is using for the OS on their phone. I'm not approaching strangers and looking over their shoulders.

No, but the WP interface is just so eyecatching and unseen of that it catches most people's attention. When I'm on the bus or skytrain, I see plenty of people with iphones, androids and blackberries, and the screen for them all is usually just white with text. On WP though, it's always an eye popping colour which is why you will notice it without purposely looking at people's phone's.

Windows Phone is struggling in the UK. I've seen one other, a HTC HD7 owned by someone in a second hand tech store. To be fair, they were trying to push a customer to buy one too :P

Didn't stick around to see if they succeeded - but it was pretty expensive.

I hope the push is working. Sadly, I have still not seen a WP7 device in the wild. Never.

I hadn't until last weekend whilst out for drinks with friends. One of the girls in the group was talking about her cat and decided to show us a picture on her phone.... out pops a cyan L800 and, man, the displayed looked gorgeous in the low light setting of the bar we were sat in. Instantly I said: "ohh... you've got a Windows Phone... awesome" and she replied: "Yes.. I love it. I showed one of the guys in my I.T department at work and he said he would have had this over his iPhone if he'd known about it".

I was at an AT&T store today, since my mother needs a new feature phone. There were L900 posters all over the place.

Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express

I have seen one WP in the wild. It was right after I got my Trophy. I believe it was the Original Focus. Everyone I know that I show my phone to is like "Why didn't you get the iPhone or [insert Android phone here]?" Then I have to tell them, my phone does everything I need it to do, PLUS I can get xbox achievements. :-)

I did have one friend, who I replaced an iPhone screen for, that said she will never buy another iPhone. When she asked what phone I had, she nodded and said that she had heard the WPs were nice. This was right after the 900 came out.

As you can tell, everyone I am friends with likes to be in the "in" crowd. While I hate to have something that everyone else has. That is the same reason why I own a Zune 80. Lol.

Honestly? Yes, I do, I like to try and work out what phone someone has.

I have a natural eye for spotting it then it seems. And trust me, if I see a Windows Phone, it gets my attention faster than any other, the live tiles are so eye-catching. Of course, most of my friends couldn't work out it had Windows Phone and thought it was a very interesting looking Android skin when they saw the HTC logo.

I've only ever seen one in the wild. It was a HD7 in Carphone Warehouse and sadly, it was being returned because there was something wrong with it. I tried to find out what, but there's only so close you can stand to someone, eavesdropping, before they notice.

What about "I'm A WP7" for gauging popularity and take-off? I realise it's not definitive but it is a pretty popular app and gives a reasonable idea.

As I say, I've only seen one myself, but according to I'm A WP7, there are another five, just within a few streets (or blocks, if you prefer) of me. So I know there's at least five others close to me, with perhaps an unknown number more that haven't downloaded the app.
One day - when I can be bothered and have the time - I may go into town and check I'm A WP7 there, see how many it picks up.

Saw another person with an HD7 today. My co-worker also noticed my phone and asked was it the phone in the new AT&T commercials
