Why reset? No need. But if you're really bent on resetting your phone, you update the apps after. A reset brings them back to their non updated state

Oh, read somewhere before that you need to reset to get amber features to show and work.

It's probably because they don't get any notifications from the app store on updates. The usual trick to it is to remove the app store tile from the home screen, delete browser history then soft reset only and then pin back the app store tile. No need for a hard reset
