My friend bought a Lumia 830 and the device really looks beautiful but i checked the specs of both the 735 and 830 and except for the camera and internal memory I really don't see any difference they both have 1GB RAM and a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Cortex-A7. I'm thinking about buying the 735 because I'm tired of my 625 and it really is starting to run slow. So yesterday my friend came over and I checked out his phone and I saw that the lockscreen is black but you can still see the time, I know it's a small thing but these small things make Windows OS very nice. My question is, does the 735 also has this black screen with the time on or not when he is locked? Or is this just because of the Lumia Denim update?

Thx

The 735 does not have glance

Indeed the 735 does not have this and will never get it because it is hardware (not software) related.

This feature is called Glance. It is not a feature of the L735, unfortunately. It's a neat feature, but is it worth the extra cost of the L830?

Nevertheless, the L735 is a superb phone for the price, and don't let the 6.7MP camera fool you - it produces great images.

I have been searching for the cheapest store for the 735 and the 830 and I could buy the 735 for €250 and the 830 for €310. I don't think Glance is worth the extra €60 but I do like the buttons that are not on the screen, though the 735 has a 5MP front camera, I really don't know what I should buy...

It's completely up to you of course, but for the extra money you get more than just Glance.
You get a larger screen, with buttons that do not take up screen space (though they can be slide down out of the way on the 735).
You also get a much better build quality and, as already mentioned, more internal memory.

Nothing wrong with the 735, just stating that there is more than just Glance that's "extra" on the 830 compared to the 735.
The 830 has a beautiful premium build quality.
It's also the thinnest Nokia phone produced at this time.

I had a 735 for a couple of weeks before I returned it and I have a 830 currently.

The 735 is thinner and lighter than the 830

My teacher bought the 830 2 days ago, it looks great, it's really a flagship with a midrange price.
So if you have money, get the 830.
But if you like selfies, get the 735, 830 has poor front camera :/

830 is the thinnest, as I mentioned, but the 735 is lighter. The 830 is relatively heavy, but it's also a premium build with more metal.

Also, the 735 has a better screen. the ClearBlack OLED really makes the phone screen look premium with rich colors and great blacks. Sure, it's a little smaller than the 830.

I own the Icon (929) and every comments on how beautiful the screen is (AMOLED). The blackest blacks and great rich color. They think the Icon body looks good but the screen makes them go wow.

Seriously, the 830 needs better specs for the cost. It has the same CPU chipset as the 735. The screen is worse than the 735. It has a poor front camera. If they wanted the 830 to stand out, they should've included all the 735 features and then added on 830-worthy features. The 735 is definitely the better value.

Plus, AT&T really screwed the 830 over with its pricing. I don't know if this is AT&T wanting to maintain margins or Microsoft but it's terrible. For the price they want, people should go for the true flagships like the Icon, 1520, HTC, etc. which have a much better CPU chipset and feature set.

The 735 it is than :) Lumia Icon isn't available in Belgium and the 735 really looks awesome. And you're right about the specs the Lumia 830 and 735 have the same specs exept for the camera, internal memory and Glance.

I have the 735 but have never seen or used an 830.

As regards the 735 it is a superb phone. I am very happy with its functionality despite it not having 'Glance'. (get a watch on your wrist if you want to know the time of day!) The screen is superb and battery life can be very good if you manage its services well. The rear facing camera is excellent but I have not used the front facing 'selfie' camera which is just a gimmick really. Although the front facing camera could be very good for Skype video calls. It is also a very fast phone which I think is down to the marriage of the Snapdragon 400 processor with Windows 8.1. It works smoothly and fluidly. The screen 'clear black' is excellent.

Other apps like "Here Drive" are really excellent and this is the app that attracted me to the phone in the first place.

All that remains now is for someone to invent a smartphone battery which lasts more than 3 days. Battery technology hasn't quite kept up with smart phone technology but here is hoping.

You can keep up the phone for 4-5 days if you use it for SMS, calling, mailing and occasional browsing. I've realized that it's not that new phones can't keep the battery up for long time, it's just that we use it more often and for more power hungry things.

I have the phone and you can keep it up for 3 days. It's just that we use it more often than before. And I wouldn't call the front camera a gimmick just because you don't use use it. Anyways phone runs surprisingly well with SD400, even some heavy games that works better than on dual core S4 with better graphic chip on benchmarks - first high end Lumias

If you are in Belgium, you might consider ordering your phone in Holland. I was told it was cheaper, check it out if you want most shops deliver in Belgium too.

Also the screen is OLED and not Amoled. It's pixels are-should/seems to truly turn off with black colors. If you go into a total darkness and select a black picture for example there is no visual lights. It's completely dark as if the screen was turned off.

It is a little pixilated if you look it up closely even if it's 720p on 4.7 inch because OLED uses only 2 subpixels instead of 3 like other screens. However that means lower battery consumption for around 30% which is always nice to have.
