Question about the Windows10 phone update coming in December.

I own a Lumia 735. Current OS is Windows 8.1 Will the Windows10 update be downloaded from Microsoft directly or my carrier, Verizon?

MS says they'll take charge this time around, but I'll believe it when I see it.
