Question regarding syncing steps

I have a Band 2 that I use with my Lumia 640 and 950. If I do not wear my band in the morning but walk 1000 steps which show on the Microsoft Health app why, when I then put on my band and sync it with my phone, don't those 1000 steps show up on my band? My band shows 0. From that pong forward steps are add to both.

Thanks for any help.

Its a one-way sync. Steps sync from the Band to the app, and steps sync from your phone (motion detection to the app. Think of it this way; the Band records steps you take while wearing it, the phone reports steps taken while the Band is not worn, and the app aggregates steps recorded on either the Band or from the phone. If it didn't work this way, steps reported by the phone and synced to the Band would then be double counted the next time the Band synced with the app.

That makes sense, thanks. I often wondered how a two-way sync would work - I guess it doesn't. So the app is the ultimate collector of data, that works. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Thanks for the info!
