Hi folks,
I have a Surface 2, Windows 8.1, and despite liking everything about it, there's one thing that I've not been able to do. I cannot, no matter how I try, read news article in the Bing reader, on my commute home. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Make sure you have "read articles offline" turned on under the options for the app.

They are turned on. So, I do a test ... go to 'gizmodo' in the app. Scroll through, withou actually tapping on any of the articles...

Then go into the device settings, switch of WiFi, and go back into the Bing app. Tap on any article, and I get 'this article is not available offline'.

I think the issue there is that those articles probably are having to hit the web via IE. Try opening a news article that is on the banner (when you first open the app). I bet those work. Some of the news sources when you click on them just open the articles in a browser. Those probably won't work offline.

Has anyone found a solution for this? I have the settings set to read offline, and yet nothing is ever available offline.

i have the same problem. can someone suggest a better news reader? offline use is important.

Did you open it up and let them all load before you left your internet connection? Because you have to, and it takes a while.
