Ready to Install for HTC 8XT

I saw the headlines regarding unavailability of 8.1 Update 1 for HTC 8X and 8S. On my HTC 8XT (Sprint) the update is ready to install. I already have problems related to my Wi-Fi not working properly because I need a new firmware. Is my phone not supposed to get the update? Should I not install it because then I won't be able to "downgrade" from Update 1 to the OEM 8.1 with the new firmware?

Firmware is separate from the os. The scary part would be if HTC and sprint decide to stop supporting the device you will be stuck with it not working well. That being said, I feel like they improved WiFi in update 1 on my 1520. If you are already at 8.1 and you can actually install update 1 then I think you have very little to lose since update 1 feels a lot more solid than 8.1.
