Reboots

I have had quite a lot of random reboot even after the so called Windows update. Everything has been working great except the reboot and the photo tile not wanting to update showing only stock photos. I found the trick to fix the photo live tile and now, my phone has not had any random reboot since. Some live tiles may be the cause for the random reboot. Unpin them and see if it fixes your random reboot issue.

For the photo tiles, I saved a few photos directly on the phone and saved them as favorites. I then pined my favorites to the live tiles while the photo tile was still pined. And voila the photo tile started to update fine, and was able to unpin the favorites from the live tiles after that with no problems.

I hope this helps as I was getting really frustrated even more because I do like the phone and WP8 very much so.

Hello everyone, last week I posted about my reboot issue and how by fixing my photo tile it stop doing it. Well it stop doing it so often but still rebooted once in a while. I finally found out what the issue is on my phone anyway. I did not have now a single reboot in a week. The issue came from the WiFi connection. Often the phone dropped the WiFi connection when the phone went into sleep mode. When it connected back to check email etc, this is when the phone just crashed and rebooted. Microsoft added on their latest update a new check mark in the WiFi Advance section that makes the WiFi connection persistent even in sleep mode. That fixed my problem. Once in a while it still happens, when I go out and leave my WiFi ON. When I come back home the phone automatically connects back to the WiFi, it sometimes crashes, though it has happen only once this week.

The Note II is good GiftedSoul, but still, I would not give up my Window Phone for it though. It has been only a couple of months that the new WP8 are out. You can be sure that very quickly most of the bugs will be ironed out. The sync between all my WIN8 device is just too awesome to not have it, plus so much more. I have to admit that it may not be so important for a regular user that do not use extensively computers. Oh well, like everything in this world nothing is for everyone.

I don't know what to do here, I got this phone yesterday, I have had at least 10 reboots, usually when playing music or xbox games. I really like the phone but I think im going to have to return it. I haven't even loaded anything other then music and a few xbox games like minesweeper and wordament.

grabbed phone, hopped on bus, hit music icon, Froze.
My hunch is that its the touch screen locking up, its fine if i play music and dont unlock the screen.
So my delimma is now what to do.
So far i have had an iphone 3gs, Galaxy S2, Note, and now the HTC8x. I cant use andriod anymore because of the problems it has with corporate EAS connections. Both of my andriod phones sucked with EAS. HTC works awesome with EAS but i cant deal with a phone that freezes constantly. I need something reliable as this is my company issued phone, since i do on call every second week.

Id say make sure youve got the portico update, OS version should end in 204. If you have and theres still a problem you should be asking for a replacement.

Yeah youve got portico - looks like you can join the ranks of the unfortunate that have busted phones. One last thing you could try though before you ask for a replacement - make sure wifi is set to always on - i know its helped in some cases.

go figure, around 20 reboots in 2 days of ownership, and now it hasnt rebooted in 24 hours. Frustrating. 11 more days to decide if I want to keep it or not.

I have an 8X with Portico on Tmobile and experienced only 1 reboot, but guessing it came from an app I had installed then.

Excluding that, Portico fixed every last one of my issues.

I have an unbranded 8X since about one and a half week now, with Portico right from the beginning. I am experiencing 1-2 reboots a day - in various situations. It rebooted twice, when i plugged it to my charger - and once when I showed it to a friend... Plus it only reboots if I am using it...
I absolutely love the phone. Its great - but not having it working reliable makes it a bit meh and wondering if I should try to get it replaced :/

So you guys do not experience any reboots any more since the Portico update (and using it much ;))? If its a software problem, i am willing to wait until it gets fixed - but otherwise I probably should look to get it replaced...

OS Version: 8.0.10211.204
Firmware revision number: 1532.20.20005.401
Hardwarerevision: 0002

3 reboots this morning in 15 minutes.
1 checking my work email
2 when I played shuffle party.
3 when I checked my Hotmail.

Getting really sick of HTC and windows 8 phone.

Send it back to HTC. I know its not preferred but somethings wrong and Portico supposed to have fixed that. I know it did for mine.
