Revert back to normal messaging in windows 10 mobile

Best I can suggest.. Open Skype > tap three dots > settings > make default

Then go to Skype video (all apps list) and disconnect skype (settings)

Yeah, I also don't understand why people don't like it. It's supposed to make your life easier, it does absolutely no harm to you. AND you can still keep texting people with no problems.

It's slowing down texting in my 520. Also no one in my skype contact actually using it anymore. So I prefer remove it if I can rather than keeping it and slowing down my phone. Skype is not that famous in Indonesia.

Well... That's the first time I've heard that Skype slows down your app. It works just fine for me. It's the same as before when there was no Skype integration.

I can name a few reasons:
- Since making it not be the default app for handling skype, the number of crashes in the Messaging hub has reduced from, "All the freaking time" to "once in a while"
- The message counter - I normally have long text conversations with a few friends & colleges on skype for desktop. The phone is very good at knowing it doesn't need to beep constantly during this time. However, it increases the missed message count! So when I look at my phone it shows 89 or so missed messages - That's just annoying.
- When it was my default skype app, if a group call came in (which happens everyday for me), the phone just ignored it - Because having a phone which can't make group calls wasn't bad enough. Setting the default to Skype fixed this.

It doesn't bother me too much, but I also don't know anybody who has Skype. It's definitely not that popular in the US either. People kind of give you that offended/confused look when you ask them if they have Skype, lol. But it is popular with porn/cam girls to charge for shows.

Actually it's not popular with cam girls, the account gets banned. You probably have a close group of friends who are not into IT and you make it sound like the whole US is not using it.
Trust me, the US is using Skype, and a lot.

They get banned and make new ones. Trust me it's very popular with camgirls. You could be right, but no one I've met through work (I work in IT), socially, or at the dojo I go to, or any friends or family I know use Skype. So I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Skype is literally the go-to app for video calls. Nothing else comes close. It's not that popular for IMs, but it can't be replaced for video. Generally, it's time has passed. I remember a few years back when Skype was THE ****, and everyone used it. I still like it, but I'm kinda alone with it.

They don't use skype on camgirls. You are in the 2000 year apparently. I know the Videochat industry, no girl is using skype. Each website has it's own camera plugin.

While the feature is nice being built-in and all, I'd also like to see other messaging apps do the same (eg. WhatsApp, Viber etc.) and other apps like Instagram and Xbox to show feeds directly within People app.

That aside, I did close down my skype account 2 weeks ago because of collegegurl69 and alike, constantly adding me. Trust me, there's no way preventing that other than not using skype. Even when Windows 10 and Xbox insist I sign in to Skype using my Microsoft account I'm like NO.

The Messaging app doesn't display pictures sent by other people which means that I have to go and switch to the regular Skype app whenever anybody sends me something. There are also other quirks/bugs in the way it handles conversations. That's the reason I've switched back to just using the Skype app and limiting the Messaging app to actual SMS messages.

i've used skype and tango on android, tango video quality way better than skype.

1. I use Skype for work, I get the notifications on my PC, don't want them on all the time
2. Group messages crashes the app
3. Group message notifications don't come through (or if they do, they're about 5 hours late)

If they whacked Whatsapp and FB Messenger into the Messages app again (Reliably) then THAT would be awesome.. Especially seeing as how the FB Messenger app is absolutely dire currently. A 5.7" screen wasted with ugly 1-2 inches of 'Recent' and 'Groups' etc. along with giant message boxes..
