Rolling back to 8.1 but i'm stuck on the " Reading device information" for 30 mins.

I'm rolling back my Lumia 830 back to 8.1 but i'm stuck on the " Reading device information" for 30 mins. I'm using Windows Device recovery too 3.1.2

Have you tried the Nokia Software updater? Or, have you tried a different PC?? How about a different USB lead.

My 1320 was not recognised by WDRT after preview build! I downloaded NSU, and viola, there she was. Strange thing is, when I roll back on my full desktop PC, WDRT recognises my 1320!

Hope you get sorted

Just turn off and on your phone. Do it few times if needed.
Check if windows recognized your phone. It took half of our to install drivers on windows 7.

If nothing is working then restart computer and plug your phone again and it will work.

Re: Rolling back to 8.1 but i'm stuck on the " Reading device information" for 30 mins.

I am running "windows device recovery tool" version 3.3.31 to try and roollback my Lumia 435 from 10 to 8.1
As EDDY FUFY says it hangs at " reading device information......please wait"
My device is recognised correctly.
I have reloaded drivers successfully numerous times using device manager.
If I had some inkling as to how long I should wait it would help.
I have tried plugging and unplugging switching off and on to no avail.

Finally made a little progress -

I gave up with windows 7 PC and connected my phone to a windows 10 PC.
All now works as expected. It should only take a few seconds to complete "reading device information" at which point it should display the options available to you.

I suspect that windows 7 version of recovery tool or the Lumia driver is defective and it cannot communicate properly with your/my phone.

I still could not get my 8.1 back, but that is another botch by Microsoft - I wont trouble you with that, maybe you'll have better luck.

Using Lumia 640 LTE Dual. Seems there's no driver for Windows 7.

Windows 10 driver seems ok, but still stuck on Reading Device Information. So I suppose the driver for Lumia 640 LTE Dual is also broken for Windows 10.

Therefore, for Lumia 640 LTE Dual, there is no way to roll back to Win8.1 from Insider program. That''s terrible. :unhappy:
