Sad battery life...

I sent my 920 in for repair for the same reason, Nokia have me a new 920 and I have the same problem.

To be honest I love the OS and all of it nice features especially the live tiles but if I knowed it was this buggy I
would've stuck with Apple's iOS

Sorry for the delays and the constant questions, I'm still learning about these windows phones but give me a example of a system app that contains lockscreen tiles, I'm not following what a system app is

"system tiles" and "power tiles" are two examples of such apps

I guess a power tile is a battery app but I still don't fully understand what a power or system tile is, if you could explain what they are and give me an example of each one, I may be able to get you the info you need to know

I fail to understand your predicament. Are you after an app that gets you similar functionality to the live tiles on the lock screen or an explanation as to what a battery app is

I'm trying to figure out what are system tiles so I can get Elias a list of these "system tile" apps are, so we can try to figure out the app thats causing the problem.

I have no social networks, no games, no videos to watch, no music to listen. I make/receive in total of about 1 hour of phone conversation and about 10-20 text messages per day. Battery life is pathetic. can't wait for the contract is over.

I don't think anyone's said it so far so I'll say it: go to Settings, Applications, Background Tasks. Then turn off/block every app that has a background task. Then turn off then power back on your phone. Yeah this is going to kill every live tile but the goal here is to see quickly if it's your phone or apps that are killing your battery.

My 920 lasts all day for me (so about 16h, I charge overnight) and I have only turned off BT and NFC cos I have no use for them. Also don't have glance on, but do have double tap to wake.

My guess would be problems with signal but according to the details it isn't really that. Perhaps a defect in some way, but regardless my battery lasts much longer.

at best i can get 2 days out of a charge. i avg 1.75 days. no complaints whatsoever. really don't know what all the fuss is about to be honest.

I have noticed significant battery drain, at times, since the Black update. Something to also consider though, is the fact that when you update apps, they often get new background permissions. As a poster said above, it is always a good idea to check the background tasks. Surprised me a few times with the amount of things that had added themselves back in to the list of apps with permission granted.

Also, I turned off the feedback to Microsoft thing. Not sure if that helped, I find my battery can be tricky to predict. That said, it invariably gets me through the day, but I am a light day user and a very heavy evening user. Allows hammer it in the evening and need to charge up again. But odd times, since Black, it could sap the battery while I was asleep. Mostly though, I am happy enough with it.

I have had a 920 for over a year Since black the battery is just the same as before for me. Occasionally it runs a bit hotter and drains quicker. I have a Bluetooth speaker phone in the car and if I turn off Bluetooth while I am not in the care that generally keeps the battery drain to a minimum

Thanks for the tip but this had little effect

@wpguy5498, then it seems to me your phone is defective

1) is there an app you're always using when you turn your phone on during these 5 hour life?
2) I have a 920 and I generally always get about a day's life with casual usage, kind of like your usage and I'm in an area with 1 or 2 bar LTE. When I go to a 3 or more bar LTE area for an extended period, I definitely get better life.
3) time for a hard reset?

I'm always using 6snap, and I'm considering a hard reset but I wonna hold off till windows 8.1 so I can backup my apps data with the improved backup settings

do you leave 6snap on when you put the phone on sleep until the next use? if you do, try exiting the app when putting the phone on sleep

Sounds like bad phone, running out of ideas here ...

Other than hard reset, does 6snap have allowed background task running?

Yelp I done see where you going with this so I'll disable the background task and see if that helps :)

UPDATE:

Didn't work so I decided to do a hard reset and was successful, the battery tab now says I get 1 day 15 hours but the overheating has returned and still draining In a couple of hours, I'm guessing it needs to stable and optimize?
