Sad battery life...

I wouldn't think so, though can't hurt to wish and hope for optimization. Unless you're running another app you haven't mentioned, pretty much sounds like a bad phone.

Thanks for your help but there's no other apps that are power hogs. I'm just gonna see if I can find a cheap iPhone 5 somewhere and switch. But thanks anyway.

I said the phone itself was maybe defective, NOT the OS  I was gonna suggest a cheap WP as a test. Going back to the beginning, there was probably a hidden reason why your friend got rid of the phone

Well that's true but I just don't wanna take the chance again.

your chances of getting a nice running WP are much much better than getting another lemon phone. Millions are using WP and the forums aren't filled with extreme battery drain issues like yours. I'd dump your friend and/or ask for a refund  and get a new Nokia and a new warranty and enjoy WP trouble free. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

IE?!?! launched by 6snap? launched by something else you do? didn't know that wp8.1 now provided that diagnostic capability but that's just a perfect use here

IE works in background to allow video playing under lock screen, could help to stop the background task if not using this specific functionnality. For me, IE was on top of the list until I close all the tabs. I'm experiencing now the tabs things to be sure.
But this list doesn't show if the drain is ok or not, it just lists the app putting the most demanding on first.
Edit: nothing wrong with tabs, stil have 10 tabs open for 2 hours and IE doesn't pop on top of the list. It just did cause I use it yesterday but no other app, so it appears first with a big diagram bar.

I had some battery "issue" but that was in fact the use of online games that burned the battery at 70% / hour rate. It's not the problem here, and in my case, I just stopped that kind of game. Before 8.1, the night, so, without use, with 4G, bluetooth, GPS and glance on (wifi and double tap off), I had a 0.8%/hour rate drain. Now with 8.1 it increases to 1.2%/hour (but my gmail account was checking at the reception, I have to check now with 2h check as before).

I don't think the problem is from the 920, but from your 920 that is defective =/

Yeah its gotta be, I'm gonna try to upgrade to a Lumia 925 in the near future.

nice to hear you're staying in the WP/Nokia family now

so is 6snap still a massive battery eater?

Yeah you proved a point, it is better to try my luck at another windows phone, then get a iPhone that does the same thing as my 920. 6snap does drain power but its not the culprit, I think the phones just defective, or it could just be my service provide. Whatever the case is I still love wp! Thanks for your help!
