Saving 8xx sales volume -- go prepaid!

I can't imagine the 822 is going to sell well as a sexy contract phone (unless it's free on contract). Perhaps the 810 will.

But I know one sure-fire way to get sales for the 8xx line -- prepaid!

Make a GoPhone version of the 8xx, a MetroPCS version, a Cricket version, a Boost/Virgin Mobile version (Sprint CDMA), etc.

Get the pricing down to sub-$300 (like the HTC One V and various Samsung Android prepaid devices) and sales should be strong enough to add credibility to Nokia's sales volumes.

They'll still have the issue of the top-line phones being relegated to a tiny niche on one carrier due to exclusives, but there's no reason they couldn't shift a few million devices in the USA in 2013 with a strong prepaid strategy.

If Nokia doesn't chase this niche, I expect HTC will with the 8S, so time to get ahead of the competition.

Or just make it cheap unlocked and then people can get it and use it with straight talk or one of the other gsm prepaid carriers.

I predict $350 unlocked, like the Lumia 710. $300 is asking too much. This has much better specs than the One V.

(Heck, the Lumia 710 has better specs than the One V. I don't understand why you're impressed with the One V at all. Not competitive pricing. Galaxy Nexus is a lot better deal.)

One V is available on every prepaid carrier and is readily available everywhere. Galaxy Nexus is a nerd phone available only on a few carriers, and is very hard to buy.

Edit: Oh the 8s is dual core, but the One V has a SLCD2. Neither have FFC but the 8S has 8GB of memory as opposed to the OneV 4.

Mmm the 8S is actually a better deal, I'm honestly shocked.

Freestaterocker is right, the 8S does only have 4GB internal memory, but similar to the One V, it is expandable through microSD

The One V is the best prepaid Android phone out there. Nokia should make the 820 the best prepaid phone out there, period, across all OSes.

Well, it makes a lot of sense. But here's my question: did the L710 sell as a prepaid phone?

I think the L710 and the L820 are positioned similarly in the states. After all, the L820 has the same innards as the L920, and that's what happened with the L800/900 and the L710. So my question above will determine how Nokia will place this phone in the coming days.

The 710 sold well on contract with T-Mobile, less so with prepaid (mostly because it was a T-Mo exclusive).

Here the 710 is not exclusive to T-mobile and it sell at lot more than the 800 and 900 counter parts.

For every Lumia 900 out there I see four L800 and ten L710. The 610 is here on 150 bucks and is selling decently also. Through really bad compared to the likes of Galaxy Exhibit 4G II and Ace/Mini2,Young.
