Saving video and pic files on desktop

Does anybody know how to save files off your phone onto your desktop PC without using Zune? Is there away of mounting the phone on your desktop like a regular USB drive?

Not really its all done through Zune.

You can do something like use your phone as a USB Drive as described in this article

Otherwise if you want to be able to use the files on the device you have to transfer them through Zune.

Best option might be through SKyDrive.
