Screen won't turn on

The other day, I pulled my phone out, and pressed the power button, and nothing happened. Thinking that my phone had actually ran out of battery, I left it as is. Maybe 5 hours later, I pulled it out, and put it in the charger, only to see the battery wasn't dead before at all.

Then, yesterday, same thing happened. The screen wouldn't turn on, but this time I'm sure the battery is still fine. I tried to press the soft keys, and got haptic feedback, but the screen remained blank. So I held the power button for a while, and swiped down on the empty screen. Then I held the power again, and the phone turned on. So it seems that the OS is still running, and the touch screen still works, but somehow the display isn't.

Anyone experienced anything similar? I see similar issues with the 920?

Mine was completely dead, even though I know the battery wasn't died that time. So far it happened twice already in a month and a half of ownership. Pulled out the battery and it went back to normal. Strange stuff... You should get your phone looked up though.

Have had the 620 for nearly a month now and its been great all round. No multi touch problem or anything until yesterday when I had this same problem happen. Did the same thing, pulled the battery out in the end. Hopefully it doesn't occur again.

I sometimes have the same issue, especially when using airplane mode. Phone then gets super difficult to unlock

This has happened to me about 3 times with my Lumia 920 (owned it since late November). I did the same thing as you - turned the phone off as though the screen were working and turned it back on again. I'd definitely like to know why this happens.

Therefore this is not limited to some phones. This is probably a software bug or something. I hope someone within Microsoft or Nokia knows about this bug. It's not that it happens many times, but it happens, and it should not.

Happened to me a few times. I just take battery out & Place it back in. seems to sort it.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but my new Lumia 521 did this 3 times over the past week. I hope the update rolling out in the next few weeks will do something about it.

This problem is frequent in my Uncle's 820,phone will become normal if we reinsert the battery,I hope they address this issue in future updates

glad to see I'm not the only one this is happening to. Removing the battery (which is a b&tch and a half on the damn 521!) seems to work, but only if I leave it out for more than like 30 minutes!

anyone have any idea why this happens and if there is indeed a fix?

I have been having many screen issues. The screen can be unresponsive, to which I have to click the lock button and then unlock it to have the screen working again. The phone also tends to freeze quite a bit and automatically resets.

Anyone having these issues?

This has happened to me a few times, the latest one being today. It is massively annoying, one can hear the sounds of notifications arriving but the screen remains off no matter how many times I press the power button. It seems to be some software bug. Any idea where to report it to nokia?

My phone screen won't work, but otherwise the phone seems to function perfectly - exactly the same as the person above describes. It vibrates, rings, I have managed to upload all of the data such as pictures from the phone successfully when using the USB cable. The problem is simply that the screen won't turn on! It is only about 3 months old. What can I do other than exchange?

Thanks!
