Search Box problem

Just want to revert search box back to the way it was before I "turned on" Cortana! Can I get it back to the simple magnifying glass symbol and not have Cortana running like before? This is on a Win 10, 1607.

Once you follow the step mentioned above and successfully turn cortana off, right click on the task bar, go to search, and click on show search icon option. There you have your magnifying glass.

Alternatively, if you just want to recapture the space taken by the "Ask me anything" box, but still want Cortana as your assistant...

Right click the task bar > Cortana > show Cortana icon
