serious backup issues in windows 10.0.10586.71

In Lumia 630 dual sim, in backup and restore under backup options no application is being shown in "choose which app to backup". Further, there is no way for sms backup and restore. I installed "contacts+messages backup setting app", even then it seems not working. Can anybody help? is it possible to restore messages from earlier exported messages in .csv files?

Settings > System > Messaging and turn on Text backup. <-quoted directly from Bing. I haven't a clue as to what file format is used but the backup/restore has worked for me without fault.

Do you have a current Microsoft account AND do you have OneDrive set up with that account and tethered with your device? As far as I can tell, OneDrive appears to be the only way to back up apps, or rather their data, AND still restore them to the device. You can backup apps on an SD card but that isn't a guarantee as a newly restored or installed OS won't necessarily recognize them.

I am still learning myself so please take my suggestions with a grain of salt and a bit of good humor.
