Re: should i be worried getting a nokia lumia device now
with all thats going on about nokia HERE app is it a worry that in the future nokia lumia users may lose nokia great apps ??
No is the basic answer.
Couple of points, that may help some others, Nokia is a company that develops stuff like HERE maps, they do not make Lumia phones any more, it would make sense for Nokia to sell this software to as many people as will buy it, so in the future they will sell it on Android, Windows and any other OS they can and unless they entered into deals to stop them doing so it makes sense, why tie yourself to one market and good luck to Nokia, they have a hard road in front of them (But they do have plenty of Microsoft's money to sweeten the pill).
Microsoft also sell software to other companies and OS's, for example you can get Office for Apple products, but it doesn't mean MS don't sell Office for Windows.
Time to drop using the Nokia from the words "Nokia lumia users" when talking about phones, Nokia used to make phones, Nokia sold the phone and device making division to Microsoft, OK the name Nokia is still used on old stock and current phones, but it is being phased out (As per legal agreements) so we will soon see all new Lumia's being called, Windows, One, Lumia, MS phones or whatever name they eventually settle on, but the word Nokia wont be on them.
Microsoft will come up with a new name for the phones they sell (What used to be Nokia phones) and still have a name for the phone OS so that other makers can join the party (HTC, Samsung etc).
So no is the basic answer to your opening question, no need to worry about buying Microsoft phone products whatever they end up being called, and HERE maps are not about to disappear from them or other manufactured WP products.
But the name Nokia will no longer be on phones so the words "Nokia Lumia users" is in the past.
