Should I buy a Windows Phone? HELP?!?!?!

I am looking to purchase a new smartphone. I have tried both iOS and Android and well they are impressive, they are not for me. The last smartphone I have had was a Blackberry Bold 9900. For usage I make minimal phone calls, I email occasionally, I text quite a bit. I am a full time student so I want a phone that can act as a personal assistant with a great calendar and reminders, basically a phone for productivity. App wise the only apps I use on a constant basis are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the web browser. So what do you think? Im looking to buy the phone outright off of ebay for around $200.

Well, remember, we dont have a first party YouTube app, or many others. So if facebook and all that is really important, maybe stick with IOS/android.

from a productivity perspective, I find WP to be far better than android. Can't speak to iOS as I don't like it at all. Cortana is a great personal assistant (in the USA) . Native Office support is a huge benefit. I need fewer apps since the OS covers what I'd have to have to have 50% more apps with android or iOS

I don't hesitate for a second to recommend Windows Phone, to you or anybody else. I have been using it now for getting on to four years and it has been nothing other that beautifully reliable for all that time. I use it to manage my calendar, edit documents and excel spreadsheets, play games, watch videos and keep me up to date with news.

One of the biggest advantages is how well everything is synchronised through One Drive. Not only does it mean access to all your documents on the go, but also contacts and calendars can be edited on the web. I use outlook.com to set up repeat appointments and then adjust individual ones as needed on the phone. It makes it so easy and I don't have to use an app to handle my shift pattern.

With $200 you should be able to get something really quite nice, perhaps a Lumia 720 or even a 920, depending on how new you want your device to be.

Most services have good apps, though Google ones are a problem because Google are being knobends at the moment (though I think it's now endemic with that organisation. Look at how they have abandoned anyone running Jellybean.) I can recommend both Mytube and Metrotube for Youtube videos, everything else should have its own app.

I suggest you check what you need, collect information for wp (such as limitations, upcoming updates w10, about the availability of apps, http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us )

Even if you don't live in US you can have great support in Cortana. I live in Greece and I have change my settings to U.S. and I have almost all the advantages.

If you are to buy a wp, I suggest you buy one from Nokia, or MSFT as they tend to offer more features (such as firmware and loyalty, exclusive apps and phones that last longer). From my personal experience I have a Lumia 920 for more than 1,5 y and it still like brand new, with few invisible scratches (I tend to keep my phone with my keys). Also MSFT (or previously Nokia) have many good budget phones better, stronger and cheaper than android (and in specs)

Unfortunately if you want some official apps, such as from google you wont find them, there are some alternative but I don't know I they are good. I am extremely pleased by MSFT services (OneDrive, translator, msn apps etc). For youtube there are apps even better than the official from any OS, like mytube.

As I am also a student I believe you will be pleased with what wp can offer you. Also I strongly suggest you to check the upcoming update w10 and see the changes it will offer.

(piece of advice avoid buying a phone with a contract/ carrier if you are in U.S., its better if you buy an unlocked, carrier free phone)

I've used all phone operating systems. As an IT support person I get zero calls from iPhone users and we hire lots of students. Android is a techie type OS..needs lots of tweaking and tampering. Windows is somewhere in between. Most students have iPhones hands down. No contest.

I'd say go Windows phone lol.
Had a couple over the last few years and they are pretty cool in my opinion. Also, there are alternatives to 'missing' apps, sometimes much better than the official ones. And on Windows phone, we don't need 'an app for everything' like IOS because we aren't too dumb to figure out that you can always use the Web of you need to.

Ok well since my last post was deleted for content (pretty rudely if you ask me. I was warned for something I didn't do. Not to mention that a warning and a request to edit my post are two separate things) I'm going to say just go with an iPhone it's the overall better mobile experience, Microsoft's services work better on it than on Windows Phone. In all honesty Windows Phone feels like a glorified feature phone. Android is nice as well but for a *nearly* flawless mobile experience go with the iPhone.
