Should I get a Lumia or LG Uni8?

thats just foolish. New OEM= competition. if you want to pay $500 for subpar lumias, go for it. But keep in mind competition is what lowers prices. Lumias are not the end all be all of windows phones, and if they ever do become that. Then that will be the death of windows phone
Subpar lumias? The 1020, 1520, 930 and icon are not sub par.
HOw can Lumia be the death of windows phone when they are the only thing keeping the os afloat.
YOu people on wpcentral never fail to make me laugh.

Basically, LG = Philips. Now, Philips make serviceable and sometimes rather good hardware, but their software/firmware is often poor and they really don't like to correct problems, preferring the 'sell them the next version' approach to bugs. Certainly this is the case with their TV equipment. I have no reason to think they would have a different, special policy for phones.

Luckily MS do the OS, but don't expect Philips/LG to update the firmware after release unless it is completely unavoidable due to a very major bug that makes the phone unusable. Anything else you'll have to put up with. If the firmware is good from the off then you're golden. If not, you can give up 'cause no help will be coming. Test one first, hopefully mess with a friends, before paying. Get agreement from the seller that you can return it in the first month if it doesn't suit your needs. If you can't be sure, buy a Lumia instead.

That was my concern too. I personally like LG hardware, but its their Android skin that drives me insane. If this phone is basically a G3 or some other type of high-end phone and they release it sometime when my contract ends, I'm definitely buying it.

Nokia support for me has been Meh...Nothing special, acutally even worse than other phone brands I have needed to use (including HTC).

Innovative ? Sure, they have some nice phone designs, the 900/920 was a real head turner for it's time. They have some nice styles, no question but, feature set ? Every other Windows Phone will have the same feature set as Nokia offers(Windows Phone standard, NOT Nokia). Maybe besides Nokia's app selection, ok, sure, Nothing most people cant live without. Nokia Drive is on all phones, so no longer a big deal.

With that being said, Nokia's are nice phones but, with HTC releasing a M8 style WIndows Phone Device and the Rumor of a new LG device you might actually get more features, Like MicroSD support.

If want a new Nokia, go for it, there is nothing really wrong with them but, if you want to hold tight for the posable new LG or even HTC, nothing we can do to tell you to wait but, in my eyes, if you can live with what you have now, it cant hurt to wait a little longer. I am sure there will be better options after 8.1 is offical. There will be a big push for 8.1 and I am pretty sure your going to see new models hit on release.

I would say try it out, I myself have a Nokia but it's only trouble having it been repaired 3 times and than at the end they tell me oh yeah my motherboard is defected. Now my front facing camera doesn't work nor my glance. Also when I upgraded to 8.1 my rear camera doesn't work.

Always had a HTC 8x as a back up phone and now is currently my main phone cause with the HTC 8x I serieusly have 0 problems on 8.1 plus the phone is still a great phone and I'm not really missing any of the Nokia apps that i might use once a month.

So in other words: other OEM's are just a good as Nokia's if you are looking at the pro's and cons and what you are going to use the device for.

I personally will continue to go with the Lumia stuff, LG is probably not going to offer anything special with their device (likely just an Android hardware port, basically). Hell, I don't even see a camera button on the thing, let alone the capacitive buttons below the display. The thing might have a decent physical appearance, but it seems to be lacking in features. If I upgrade before the fall (via AT&T Next), I'll go 930 in June, even without the Qi.
