i am currently using lumia 730 and samsung galaxy s4 advance
they are both great .. but i always wanted to use 1520 and 1020 . which one should i buy ? 1020 has a great camera and compact. where as 1520 has better battery life and good camera. i take photos time and again .Is the camera of 1520 is comparable to that of 1020 by any means ? i listen to music and watch videos in mobile .. heard that 1520 has a weak speaker.

Re: 1520 or 1020

I own a 1020 myself and the camera is great, probably a bit better than the 1520. But i don't think the difference is huge, also taking pictures with the 1020 is very slow, also the live images aren't supported on the 1020.
Maybe you could hold off for a couple more months and get the new Cityman or Talkman. Unless you don't want to pay that much for a newly released phone

I can vouch for what Ruben says about the speed of taking pics w/the 1020.
I, too, would hold off till fall unless you find a really good deal on a 1520 or 930/Icon.

My wife uses a 1020, and I the 1520. I find the 1020 far superior to the 1520 camera wise, but I can not in good conscience recommend anyone buy a 1020. Its so slow compared with the 1520. Wait until November.

Re: 1520 or 1020

Posting in the 1520 forums will give a biased answer. That said:
1520 all the way. Or give the 950 a run in the fall.

I own both the 1520 and 1020. The 1020, with a camera grip, beats the 1520 ESPECIALLY for night time photos. The 1020 flash is much better and that's about that. Other than the camera and the smaller size, the 1020 falls behind. The 1520 being much faster no matter what you'd like to do.

Battery life is also amazing on the 1520. Heck do as I did and have both :)

Ideally I'd LOVE a 1020 with the same cpu as the 1520

I think either one will work, if you are looking for an everyday phone with occasional photos I say the 1520 hands down.

I have both, my wife wanted the 1020 so I gave that to her and am using the 1520. I stay with WP specifically for Lumia cameras, because it cant be beat by either iPhone or Android (I also have an iPhone 6, Galaxy 5 and LG G3). My favorite is 1020.

Re: 1520 or 1020

I also have the 1020 and the 1520. Both take great pics, but if you're going to do after edits and cropping, the 1020 is better. I find the screen size and better battery life a necessity so I tend to use the 1520 as my work phone. The 1520 is also a lot faster! The speaker on the 1520 is very good (IMO). I often play music through my phone and find the sound to be great. I agree with the other posters, it would be a good idea to hold off until Talkman and Cityman are released if you can. The 1520s can have a few problems (random restarts, phantom touch issues, etc.) so be aware of this if you do go down that route. Hope this helps. 😊

Re: 1520 or 1020

Wait till talkman and cityman.. 1020 is suicidal Imo bcoz it won't be able to get new cool tricks and stuff because of it's limited isps..

Re: 1520 or 1020

I want to buy a 1020. Should I carry a power bank with me everytime ? Currently using a 630 with 1850 mah battery and it's sufficient for my usage. 1020 is my dream phone, I've been saving money for a year. Would I regret if I buy?

If that's what you've been saving up for then get it. It's still a top WP in my book and my wife's. She broke two 1020s already and still insisted on a 3rd one. LOL.

Instead of a powerbank my wife has the camera grip for extra battery.

I used to own a 1020 and my wife currently has the 1520. I miss the 1020 because of the camera, and only the camera. I don't miss how Denim made it lag more. If you want a great cameraphone and don't rely heavily on gaming and work with the phone, then by all means scoop up a 1020. If you want to do gaming and mid-level and up work on the phone, then go for the 1520. I would have scooped up a 1520 for myself but I see it as too big. I ride a bike and I know that phone would bug the hell out of me in my pocket. I now have an 830, but I do miss the camera. I can't wait to see what MS has in store for a true 1020 successor.

Re: 1520 or 1020

Not all 1020s were lagged by Denim. My wife's first 1020 was lagged, but her 2nd and 3rd ran fast and fine.

Re: 1520 or 1020

I always wanted these two phones, but 1520 was so out of my budget.. It is still selling for 600 $ here.. But I managed to get 1020 last October from a giant online retailers s annual sale for around 225$... And it's been working good, I am not much of a photograph enthusiast still have always wanted a pureview phone.. And I have my ancient 1.5 +years old 1320 for all my big screen needs.. I kind of like this combo and I frequently change between these two devices effortlessly.. Testing WM 10 only on the 1320 right now,so no idea how it will run on 1020..I am kind of wishing to get 1520 on this coming October sale.. I don't know, I like Nokia more than Microsoft and I won't have enough money to spend on 950 or 950xl...well I think you should buy both or whatever screen size you prefer, both are great devices..

I just got a 1020...
All I can say is if you like to see bad photos come out with intense detail then the 1020 may be the best choice.

I'm still sitting here in awe being able to crop my poor photos into good photos because the 1020 captures even the smallest details.

Re: 1520 or 1020

It is better to wait until ms publish their next phone with x86 architecture next year, windows mobile 10 will be less laggy and Intel processors allows to do much more stuff than ARM

I got it as I said earlier...
No regrets so far...I'm seeing 10+ hours of use photographing and videoing everything.
I was surprised that the 32 gig is handling all my photo needs.
This phones major purpose for me is a camera however.

Man. Forget the 1020. Go for the 1520. While the camera on the 1020 is hard to beat, that's pretty much all the phone has going for it. It runs on hardware from the 920 era, which was already reaching the end of it's life span at the 920's release. 1520 is a much more powerful device, and should serve you well into the near future.

Then again... the 950 is around the corner. You could wait on that, and see if it tickles your fancy. Should offer strong hardware, features, and more future proofing.
