Hi guys. I bought a 2012 HP Elitebook last week. Its got Windows 7 Pro on it. Having using Windows 7 on a variety of machines for the last 5 years, I'm really bored of it. I want to move on seriously, and I can't wait for Windows 10 to launch. So I wanted to ask if I should buy Windows 8.1 Pro DVD from my local internet reseller, who got it on a nice discount, or just install Windows 10 TP right now. I know its a bit stupid buying Windows 8.1 right now, with windows 10 around the corner, but I just can't stand using Windows 7 for any longer. And having Windows 8.1 isn't that bad either, in case my system crashes later. Also, I'm learning C# and Windows app development, and obviously I need either 8.1 or 10 to do it. From what I've read here and elsewhere, the Technical preview is pretty stable for day-to-day use. I've used both Windows 8.1 and 10 TP on my friends laptop, and I'm no stranger to the modern UI. So what do say?
Should I?
1. Go Technical Preview right now.
2. Buy Windows 8.1 (I'm getting it cheap remember)
Or
3. Wait for the Windows 10 launch on July 29
