Should I take the deal? 950XL for $120 w trade in of 1520

So I can trade in phone w MS extended care deductible at MS store, and get the 950XL for $120. Seems like a smart move since th 1520 is suffering from phantom presses and is going bad fast.

Should I do it?

I have both phones. So I pose the question to myself and answer it dead honestly................

Yes. For ME it is a yes. But not by a big margin. (I consider $120 not a big margin)
However, if someone took Continuum away from the 950XL, I'm not sure I could do it.
Not even straight up! I love that dang 1520 that much.

Keep in mind my 1520's show no wear and do not have any of the phantom touch screen issues.
(One of them does have a burnt out backlight for the back-button)

So, even without Continuum, if we were comparing a well worn 1520 for a brand new 950XL, I'd probably still make the swap.

Have I made it any easier? lol
It IS a tougher decision than folks without 1520's might believe.

Your 1520 is worth about $200. With phantom touch issues, maybe $120. The 950Xl is worth $650, plus you can order a free $99 dock.

From a pure money standpoint, absolutely it is.

"pure money standpoint" matters more to me when I was in my 20's, 30's, and even 40's.

These days "pure joy" trumps it sometimes. Not ALL the time, but sometimes. More and more each day, in fact.

I think I'd go 950. I'm a bit gun-shy about the SD 810. But only a 950 or 950 XL would seem an appropriate replacement. How much closer to a straight up swap is the 950?

I like my "pure joy" as well, but money has it's uses. Even a couple of dollars. My wife disagrees with me sometimes when I factor in price and say I don't like something on price alone. I just hate to feel like the proverbial fool that was quickly parted from his money by a snake oil salesman.

Thankfully it never killed me. But avoiding it is a good thing for sure.

I have a 950XL now, but am waiting for a 950 to replace it. I was able to pick up a reasonably priced XL, but I still can't get used to the bigger screen, which is why I have never been able to jump into a 1520. I love the 1520 as a device - I just can't get used to the size.

I will say, though, that the XL is not as big as a 1520, and it's growing on me a bit. I don't know if I trust the processor or not, because I don't know anything about either.

ex-owner of a 1520 here, actually I have a 950 XL and I'm so happy, IMHO the phone is (a lot) better than my old ATT 1520 phone. The camera is a looot better, the screen is better, and has more features like continuum or hello.

Yes, this is a value I would have looked for.
After owning a 1520 for 1 1/2 yrs, I traded my it for a Note 3.
I preferred the 1520, and regretted the trade. Sold the Note 3 for $250 to buy the 950XL.

I would have turned in my 1520 for a 950XL Without much thought, and probably be more satisfied with only spending $120 vs $700!

If you can still get a free Continuum Dock and Office subscription, that will only sweeten the deal.
