Should i upgrade my lumia to windows 10

Yesterday i got my 640 xl, should i upgrade it to windows 10 i also got a 535 running on windows 10 build 14393 and battery life in it is terrible. Can any body answer me how's battery life is in windows 10 on 640

upgrade to the official release for the 640, no need to go to insider rings

For your 535:

A few things you can try out:
Check settings >system > battery > which apps are using the most energy?

1. Again, in battery section, which apps can run in the background? Can you disable those you don't need? Keep messaging enabled to run in background
2. In battery section, you can also set up battery saver to kick in when the battery reaches a certain percentage. I keep mine on 100% so it's always on battery saver mode
3. In mail app, how often do you have mails to sync? Generally the longer the time period, the less the battery usage
4. What about brightness settings? Is it on high or auto? Auto is better than a fixed setting
5. If you find that messaging app uses a lot of battery, this could be because it's linked with skype. Go to messaging app, settings and unlink skype
6. In photos app, do you have auto upload of photos enabled? If yes, try to not upload high res photos and videos unless you are charging the phone and on wifi
7. When you use some apps that are not data heavy like whatsapp or mail, you can use a lower network speed like 2G. It's what I do usually. I only use LTE when I have to use 6tag
8. If you're using edge for basic browsing, you could try using UC browser. Not only does it use less data but you can also disable images which means you save even more on data. The less data your phone has to receive, the less the energy used
9. In settings > privacy - check each of those settings to see which apps can use what. For example I can't understand why Word would need to access location info so I disabled that. There might be apps using services that they are not meant to use
10. Finally, keep wifi/cellular off when you don't need to have them on. The toggles in action centre are pretty fast so it doesn't take much time in switching internet on/off
11. Disable auto update of apps, you only update when you are ready and not when you are in need of critical things

Thanx for these tips, have downloaded upgrade advisor in 640 xl and update my phone soon,but official release is seems to be slower than redstone builds should that affect my phone performance , i am worried because i am going to use 640 as a daily driver

Yes just downloaded and gears are spinning in my 640 xl hoping everything will be ok. I will inform after a whole day usage how its doing in windows 10.

I have a 640 XL on build 14393 & battery life is the same as 8.1. Microsoft addressed the battery draining bug and this build is RTM ready. In my opinion, I have found that Redstone is much more polished than Threshold. Since you have a new phone, a hard reset wouldn't be necessary unless you encounter a laggy or unresponsive behavior from your phone. After I installed 14393 on my 640 XL, I immediately did a soft reset following a tip I read on the forums here. Sure enough, that was the key to fixing the battery life. Also, disabling unnecessary background tasks will help also.

Spinnin and finishing is only phase one: then phone must update ALL core apps to win10 vers and sync them, it could take some hours

Updated to windows 10 now updating apps, will do a soft reset after updating apps ,then going to check it performance and battery life .

Updated all the apps and did a soft reset but it taking more time to open apps compare to my 535 on redstone.

Given it a whole day but still it feels lag something should i have to do a hard reset,it didn't bother me too much because i still doesn't started to use it as my daily driver.

Yeah, it should be fine by now. Factory reset and start from scratch.

Done the factory reset, Now things looks normal, updating apps will tell you after using it a whole day.
