Shouldn't Microsoft be setting an example for other companies to follow?

Many apps developed by Microsoft don't feature any of the new stuff that were added recently to Windows 10 (/mobile). Some don't even have transparent tiles.

Let alone all the apps by Microsoft Garage that were released months ago and never made it to Windows 10.

And I was thinking, how are developers expected to give Windows the attention it deserves when Microsoft won't? Don't you think Microsoft's apathy towards such little but annoying detail affect the app situation?

That, in addition to the elimination of the Lumia series? Now that Surface Phone (or whatever it'll be called) is delayed till 2018, doesn't that really make things worse?

Yes it does. And it is very true that most of MS's own apps have terrible unimaginative design and lack of functionality. It seems as they were rejects from some other projects destined for more popular OSes. They are simply not appealing to anyone's sense of beauty and usability.

It does very much feel like they very lazily coded these apps and just did a very generic design. It's like they kinda followed the uwp guidelines but left out some functionality and uniqueness that most uwp apps seem to have
