Here's my first stab. For a good Cardinal accent color move the hue slider all the way to the right and then select about 20% away from the top-right corner. WPS!

I have the pdn of the above wallpaper. With 2 layers, but can't attach it to this post.
Somehow the squares look missalligned.

And a lighter version. The squares do not look to missalligned anymore.

Here's a few I put together. A few aren't exactly 310x102 as they looked too stretched out that way. But, it'll allow you to get inside of that pixel range without losing all of the image.

I use Photoshop. It allows me to work with layers rather than by pixels like Paint.

Oddly enough, I've used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to crop the image I want to something that is has a 310x102 ratio and then use the resize function to bring it down to that size. Has worked so far but of course it needs a machine with Office installed. Same basic steps should work for most photo apps.
