Signal to cortana to stop asking if I want text messages read to me

So here's the scenario; A text message comes in. Cortana offers to read it to you. You can't respond with "Ignore it" because it is too noisy in the room for Cortana to understand your response. So it keeps asking you several more times. It's annoying as hell. We need a mechanical way to give feedback. I've tried pressing the wake button, and numerous other ideas. Nothing works. Am I stupid or is Microsoft stupid enough to not realize we need another way to signal to "Ignore"

I hope it's me but any suggestions would be appreciated

You could set it to only read the message when a headphone or bluetooth device is connected.
