Heya @ all,

I really love my Surface 2 and am having quite the fun using it. There is just one little thing bothering me:
No real apps for sketching/drawing with decent options (things like layers, different layer options and so on...). There are a few "fun" apps for scribbles and stuff, but I would love to have something like Sketchbook Pro for W8 (not RT) where you have all of this.

Sketchbook Express is real fun but the missing layers sadly are a dealbraker for me. I am a designer and would love to use my surface for sketching on the go. It would be awesome to scribble something in my sketchbook, make a quick foto, load it into an app and begin drawing/rendering on the Surface during a bus/train ride.

I know that you can do all of this on the Pro, but I don't need the Pro. So my question would be: are there any Apps I somehow didn't find? Is there any news on a Sketchbook Pro version for W8 RT? I would of course love to pay for something like that. No problem at all...

Thanks in advance!

ps: If you have the same problem you should try pixlr.com! It works on the surface and is a real beast (basically a browser version of photoshop). The only problem is: input lag... If I use my finger or a stylus to draw, the lines are never smooth. There is always some kind of a lag which lets the lines to have edges instead of curves... And of course...it is not an app, but in the browser so you need an internet connection to use it...

Hey, I have the same beef with Autodesk. I do not know why the functionality of sketchbook express is so limited on the Windows RT version when compared with the Android/iOS versions. If they just created an app with 5 layers and more color ,maybe copic, options and sold it for 5 bucks, I'd be happy. Instead they leave the app derelict, without updates, for over a year.

Questions for you: 1) The digitizer on my Surface RT is really terrible for drawing. The digitizer layer used isn't as good as the one on the iPad. It always creates jaggy lines. How about the Surface 2? Can you draw smoothly on it using a rubber stylus and Sketchbook Express? If not, that may be one reason Autodesk hasn't updated their app.

2) In the meantime check out Sketchable on the Windows Store. It runs on RT. It is a great sketching app. More capabilities than Sketchbook Express. Unfortunately, it doesn't have layers yet.

3) Lastly, do you use a Windows Phone? If so, I have had a request over on the official Sketchbook Help forums for a Windows Phone Sketchbook app. Would you mind looking at it and clicking 'Me Too?' Unfortunately, most users here have very little interest in such an app. I hope that one day Autodesk will take notice and throw us a bone. Sketchbook would be awesome on the Lumia 1520.
