Slow reboot. Takes at least 5 minutes

I damaged my original Surface Pro 3, so I ended up purchasing a replacement.
If I Shut Down my Surface Pro 3, then use the power button to boot it back up, it takes about 10 seconds.
If I select Restart, it takes at least 5 minutes or more to reboot. The word "Surface" appears on the screen for a very long time. Never had this problem with my previous surface. Wasn't sure if a recent update to the newer models aren't running quite right, or if I have a bad unit.

If you got it from a Microsoft store, run it by them and see about getting a replacement, something seems to be off.

Return it, go get it at a Microsoft store, and be happy with the better customer service.

On a serious note, return it, not sure why the OS is using so long to reboot, but that isn't normal from a fresh install.

Not sure if it's a software issue. I installed all of the updates. When I go back to Update and recovery > Windows update, nothing appears. Just a spinning circle.

Refreshed it, and now it reboots fine. Unfortunately, now I don't have the latest firmware updates and patches. Last time I installed the updates, that's when the rebooting issue began. Now I'm not sure which one to stay clear of.

It's a bug. I bet your cover is folded back. Try taking off the cover or have the cover in keyboard mode and do a restart. It should restart immediately. Once you fold the cover back, it hangs on the "Surface" logo for about 3 min.

The cover was in it's normal position.
I just purchased it last night, and was trying to set it up. Everything was working fine until I started installing the recommended updates.

I get the same problem when it's docked with the latest firmware. No keyboard attached (just a wireless USB one). If I power off the Surface in the dock, and then power back on, it will hang. I have to Volume Up + Power for 15 seconds to get it to boot correctly.

Another option that might help - don't do a hybrid shutdown. Do a full shutdown - perhaps that'll help.

I plan on installing each update one by one, then do a reboot after each one. Hopefully that will allow me to figure out which update is giving me issues.

has anyone had any update on this?
every reboot i do, with the keyboard cover attached and folded back makes it hang on the surface logo for a few minutes, if i have the keyboard on the front or if i remove the keyboard completely, it reboots normally..

this does NOT occur if I'm booting from power off state. if its powered off and i turn it on, it works fine regardless of the position of the keyboard.

it must be something to do with a recent firmware update. which causes it to freeze when sent the reboot signal.

I have a SP3 i5/128 and from day one I could not believe how fast it boots up from off. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the SP 3 boots up twice a fast. It's amazing.

thanks so much. My Surface pro would take a long time to start up to ten minutes. The word surface would appear on the screen and I had to wait up to 10 minutes before anything would change on the screen. Then, I just detached the keyboard and it started right away. After many experiments, I found that was the solution to a rapid start. Just detaching the keyboard. Thanks again.

Make sure you have the latest firmware updates. This issue was fixed months ago.

Can you tell me where the firmware update is. I have this very issue on a surface 3. I recently purchased it used so no warranty. I updated everything I could find
