SMS timestamp is wrong

Whenever I get SMS messages it shows the correct time stamp for my messages (me sending them), but messages I receive always have the wrong time stamp. Any idea why this is happening? If I send a message at 7:15am, and someone replies right away, it'll show their message as 10:15pm.
