It appears the case & the tempered glass screen protector aren't worth the packaging they came in.
I have a hairline crack that goes across the lower half of the screen.
Can the glass be replaced since the digitizer's all good or is the glass adhered to the digitizer?
Big job?
Thanks.

Maybe you should take it to a licensed person who is able to repair phones. Yeah, the glass may be scratch resistant, but it shatters like no other.

Right. Gorilla Glass is really more about the toughness of the display with regards to scratches and dings. A hard fall in the right place will almost always lead to a shattered screen. And as a general rule, the larger the display, and thinner the device, the more likely you'll have some major shatters.

I agree, you'll want to get it taken to a professional. It's easy to mess these jobs up. But there are some decent YouTube videos for self replacement, if you're interested.

Even Gorilla Glass 5 will crack if you drop it onto stones or a hard sharp surface. Its great for scratches with keys, coins and maybe a razor but no invincible. Normally the whole screen is one unit and it connects to the phones motherboard. If you take the phone in to be repaired, sometimes they can just 'insert' some resin into the glass and 'fill the hole'. You might have to replace the screen if it bothers you enough. I don't think it will be a big job. Hope it gets fixed :)

I replaced the display module on a L640 before, got the genuine part new on ebay from China. You need some special small screw drivers (find a tear down tutorial on youtube). It actually didn't cost much at all. I assume you can do the same for a 950.

In future you must keep phones in silicone gel cases, I have never had any kind of crack when a phone is in such a case (I droped the L640 on the road and 20 trucks ran it over - still worked though despite a shattered screen.

If you can't fix the screen yourself. Your best to buy a new phone due to it being to much to pay someone to fix i for the screen vs the value of the phone itself.

I got a quote for $295 to replace the screen on my L950. Decided to just put on a tempered glass protector and deal with it until something better comes up.
