...now seems to be the time we will find out whether Nokia are actually going to "activate" 4G/LTE on all those factory-unlocked Lumia 920's that are currently sat at "4G-ready" but deactivated in the software...

Back in October that was the hope, and hopefully soon enough we'll find out whether UK users who want 4G but not EE have been screwed over or not... It's up to you, Nokia...

You get a software update if your with a carrier with 4G so users who have a Nokia on EE will have it activated if they have a 4G tariff and sim which would be the same for O2.

This is not True... Ive tested Factory Unlocked 820 and 920 both do not get updates to enable 4G on the EE4G network, You have to flash the EE firmware to get 4G.

I thought that EE would do it through a software update, it not very good when you have to flash it your self.

Been going through the same issue on my unlocked 920, spoke to Nokia support and escalated it with them, and they came out and said that they won't be updating it as the 920 with 4G is only for EE. Nokia's answer was to give them my unlocked red 920 for a black or yellow locked to EE 920 which would enable 4G

Well im hoping that O2 would reward a loyal customer and let me upgrade from my 8x to the lumia 1020 on 4G - upgrade would be a year early but I doubt they would turn down another 2 year contract at a slightly higher price.

It has one of their Execs stating that Nokia will be releasing updates to handsets to allow for new 4G networks!
If Nokia don't keep their word I'm going to HTC!
