Is it like other previews? All data in the phone will stay? Or should I backup contacts and photos and stuff?

Previous Insider preview? Yes.
Developer Previews? No. It's much more rough-around-the-edges.

All data will stay BUT backup your stuff anyway. A factory reset may be necessary for best operation and/or something MAY go wrong since this is unstable code you're signing up for.

Too risky for you? Don't do it. But want to try, understand whats going on, and have your stuff backed up? Can't stop you.

For Lumia 930 it will be released official earlier than the others. So be patient. Even more 930 will get more features than others. Just be patient!
