Soft reset question

Is there really a difference between soft resetting a phone versus just powering it off and on again? If so, are there any consequences of doing a soft reset? Will I lose anything? Thank you in advance.

There is a difference; a soft reset is kind of like pulling the battery out. You will lose date and time settings, which will automatically restore in a couple minutes. And you will lose a bit of battery, probably. No risks involved

Yeah,
My phone would not work this morning when trying to unlock it.
I attempted to restart it but yeah.. Did not want to work, so I soft reseted it, works flawlessly now.

So yeah, it's indeed a 'virtual' way of pulling the battery out and in.
