Says he can't get it to accept a new contact. When he presses the plus sign it leaves the app. First off has anyone heard of that and secondly what's the correct way to bring it back to original Windows 8? Does he have to create a Microsoft ID or something like that before it works correctly?

I never had much of any problems to speak of running Windows 10 and used it as a daily driver.

Use the Windows Device Recovery Tool to go back to the latest software, which is 8.1 Update 2 on that phone.
