SP3: Does the keyboard do its job?

I find the Type Cover to be an odd bird... I can type faster on it than I can on my MacBook Air, but I can't say if feels as good. I'll take speed over feel any day, but it still strikes me as odd.

My only complaint is that it's a bit loud, especially when in angled mode. I'd say that it could be a little too loud in very quiet environments. I posted elsewhere that the demo keyboard I tried about a week before launched felt "spongier" and quieter than this one, but of course that could just be my imagination. For kicks, though, I might take mine to the Microsoft store and compare it, just to make sure I didn't get a bad unit (or one from a bad lot).

I am surprised at how good the keyboard cover and trackpad are. I had the Surface 1 and the same type cover and it was horrible. It was slow to keep up with my typing and missed a lot of letters when I typed. This new one is very usable, as is the trackpad.

Wow! So much information. Thank you everyone 😁 I've already tried one in the store, but unfortunately there was no place to sit down and have a realistic typing experience. The keyboard felt pretty good, I just have no idea how it would be 5 pages into a report. I'm leaning toward "yes, it's a good keyboard."

Its all personal experience really. I've never owned a laptop with chicklet keys so this is sorta 'meh' to me. It's a great on the go type and cover, and for a long typing, I can easily just plug a Bluetooth keyboard I have at home.

I think this is doable though. In the library, or Starbucks, this is decent enough to get some work done. It feels flimsy, and one thing that concerned me is if it bent while typing on it as it is snapped on the tablet, but its not bending. I'm pressing really hard on the keys, and I'm not feeling and bending sensation.

I say go pick one up and play with it for 30 days. Return it if it doesn't work out for ya. I'm actually in that period right now, and so far my only problem is that I wish I waited for i7. Not powerful enough for hardcore gaming. :D

Thank you. That really helps, and I like the trial idea. 👍
