SP7 with Surface Pro X Type Cover with Slim Pen?

I know Microsoft product page mentioned the SPX Type Cover with Slim Pen is compatible with SPX.

BUT, has anyone tried to mate the 2 and see if it works? I mean the dimensions of the Type Covers for SP7 & SPX are similar enough. The pinouts for the connectors should be similar right?
