specs upgraded for surface pro 2 from i5 4200u to 4300

Hmmm, looking at one now, lot number 1351... I wonder if its the new one?

I wonder if we can assume that lots 1351 and higher are the newer version?

Now I have to figure out how to get a type cover... They seen to be sold out everywhere... Or maybe I wait for the new type cover that has a built in battery for extending the Surface's battery life?

the one with the battery is not back lit, which is a bit sad... at least to me.. I wish I had both.

How to copy or atlest backup the recovery partition of Surface Pro 2 to my 1Tb external HDD please help?

I don't recall how exactly, but I know that Disk Manager allows you to clone a partition to another partition. So you can make a partition in your 1TB drive, and clone the Surface Pro 2 one to it.
You can also try this free (for personal usage only): Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download software.

I used it, seams to work well, it's easy to use. Now, I have not tried recovering it. So I hope this works.
It was suggested by Microsoft's Channel9's The Defrag Show, so I guess it should do a good job.

Thank you and ill try that one and i have heard that SP2 is out if stock in many stores is it true or is it Surface 2 which is out of stock?

Where did you got your Surface Pro 2 is it Microsoft center or did you ordered it online? Is it 4Gb RAM/8Gb RAM ?
im planning to get it from Microsoft center so little help here?

I got mine at the BestBuy in La Cantera (San Antonio). It's the 4GB RAM, 128GB storage. They had stock of lot 1350 & 1351... I went with 1351, but they were probably both at 1.9GHz.

Thank you, i think Microsoft is finished with the 4200u chip stock, now they are using 4300u for all the SP2 models and even Im getting 128Gb storage SP2.
cheer's for your purchase

Has anyone had luck with replacements??
I think you will get 4300u for replacement, i have read in Microsoft Surface forum one guy sent his SP2 for replacement for December Firmware issues and he got the 4300u SP2 in return,so i think even you will be getting the same.

Oddly enough, got (2) 256gb from BB yesterday, one for me, one for the wife (gonna sell the 128)... Hers is the 1.6 and mine is the 1.9. Was debating trying to return hers, but at the same time, she probably won't notice a difference.

What was the lot number of the 256GB with the 1.9GHz CPU? I may be purchasing one from the same store and would like to get the newer CPU, if possible. Thanks.

I'll check when I get home tonight.

Sorry I forgot to post this yesterday...

256gb @ 1.6 is lot #: 1352

256gb @ 1.9 is lot #: 1401

My 256 GB unit is lot 1404 (from best buy online) with 4300u

Where on the package do I see the Lot Number? with > 14xx I should be fine I guess? And do you think its possible to have them open it and I bring CPU-z or something on a USB pen drive to check if its really the 4300U?

The lot number is easily viewable on the side of the package. You will see a bar code and the lot number is right next to it. Mine is lot 1409 and it has the new processor. I bough from the Microsoft store online.

About the USB drive, I don't know the policies on these stores but I don't think anyone will let you open a factory sealed $900+ device (that you may or may not buy) and connect a random USB drive to it.
