Stop Instagram from syncing in background?

Is there any way to stop IG from auto syncing in background/when not in use?

I did block it in the Background Tasks but this does not seem to be the right solution as i am still getting notifications.

I just want IG to use data when i manually open it. Its killing me using about 200mb data today already.

You can try logging out when you are not using instagram. In this way if you are logged out you wont recieve notification.
