Is there any inbuilt feature in WP8.1 to stop the music and clear the volume bar? I know there are apps available in the store but wanted to know if it was incorporate with 8.1

Talderon recommended not using those kinds of apps in WP8.1, although he didn't indicate there's another way of stopping music entirely:-

*We have discovered the issue where when playing music with plugged in head phone and the music is stopped with a "Stop the Music" type application, you may not be able to change the volume. Suggestion is to STOP using these types of apps until they have been updated for WP8.1 or just stop using them all together.

Thanks for sharing your valuable feedback.
It honestly doesn't drain battery anymore. I wouldn't use it unless it just annoys you.
I really thought MS would include this feature with WP8.1. It might not drain your battery, but hey common...Its a basic feature every Music player has. I don't realize why they are not adding it.

To be honest, I'm not sure either. I lost patience with the music player in WP8.0 and put all of my music on an iPod.

So they're sticking to their guns on this one, I guess... "You don't REALLY want a way to stop music, you only THINK you do - but we know better."

I wonder what they think all those "Stop The Music" apps do, and why so many people download them?

It would be nice to be able to just swipe away whatever music app is using the volume bar. That's all you need.
