Wow. That was hard reading on the "Evleaks: Android powered Lumia from Microsoft" thread. I expected some passionate responses, but we have a few users we may need to place on suicide watches. iMore should get about 3-4 hundred new users according to what was posted on there as they are just "done" with MS and WP.

Thanks to Laura for getting the "calm down" post on there. I have a feeling we will see this creep up in "anti-WP" postings for a while on here just to get a rise out of our little group.

Sigh.... Evleaks, you are off my Christmas Card list.

Man no kidding!
Kind of quietly blew my cool (behind the scenes)

Some of the negative threads\posts\commenting sure go off into space quickly.
I have to say we have core members here that either stayed out or simply posted c'est la vie

Wiener and Child Actor, who like to stir the pot with those threads are gone for good.

Amazing how people can get so worked up over a rumor, can't wait for Mary J Foley, Paul thurott or Daniel Rubino to strike that down.

Aww.... Who are we gonna have throw temper tantrums when someone disagrees with them now??

Thanks Laura. Again, it seems you are stuck doing most of the truly unpleasent work. Please do not feel like you have to. Any of us can be the bad guys. Heck, Guytronic might enjoy it, the bully... (Who loves ya, Guy??)

It's ok. Besides, somebody else might have to ban them again if they create more duplicate accounts like Jaskys.

Just praying it is tomorrow. If no one debunks this, I am going straight to the "Beer of the Week" pick by Mary Jo Foley on the "Windows Weekly" podcast and first round is on me. We may need it, along with the patience of Job before this is over.

I think Windows Weekly is on Wednesday, so we might still have another rough day tomorrow.

It's amazing to me how people can be so fickle. If Microsoft announced a new device like the McLaren next week the same people who are wanting to burn them at the stake would make new threads claiming they never doubted Microsoft.

In the meantime we've got to hang in there and be patient, and get rid of the trouble makers.

I have also chimed into to see who else gets on the iOS bandwagon but think against rest of the posts in that thread, mine was calm as a Koala.

On a more serious note, Mary Jo Foley did squash Evleaks' SP3 rumour. Haven't confirmed or denied this one yet, neither has Daniel. But if this does happen, I do totally understand the sentiment of those who are emotionally attached to a platform. We gotta remember, some of these guys have given up on Gmail to come join Outlook, given up on Gdrive to adapt to OneDrive - why? Because they moved to WP, Google didn't give the services. Now if they get all the services they need on Android or iOS, there is no reason to stay on WP. Live tiles isn't good enough to keep people on the platform.

Yup. I don't think anyone can be faulted for feeling a little frustrated by such news. The problem is the degree to which some will rage against whomever they feel is to blame for it, and bring everyone else down with them into their geek dystopia. It creates an online-forum equivalent of a lynch mob.

IMHO we shouldn't trivialize the issue itself, but rather resist the way it's being reacted to.

I was under the impression, we create a room for as many users to interact as possible (more hits!) by moderating the forums. If more people vent away, which in turn, creates more discussion - I am all in! But if these polarized discussions eventually get personal - that's where I use the powers bestowed upon me. Otherwise, I stay cool in the party and keep the discussion as diverse as possible. What's the point if everyone agrees? ;)

I suspect what I wrote didn't translate in your brain into what I meant. :sweaty:

I think I was agreeing with you. I too think it's not completely irrational for folks to be very concerned about such moves. There are scenarios where intertwining Android with WP could lead to very negative outcomes for WP, and I don't think it's right to stifle those opinions. What I'm opposed to is the level of rage and frustration that bubbles to the surface in many of those posts, based on what is essentially a rumour. Those posters do require some form of virtual tranquilizer. Not due to the substance, but the presentation.

I'm not sure how your response fits to that statement.

My personal opinion is that very slight adjustments to how MS handles Android related issues on WP could lead to very different outcomes, so being for or against any type of Android/WP knot-tying seems premature to me.

I hear ya! We are on the same page now. That earlier reply was while I played with my new toy - 1320. So may have been totally distracted. I am now calm and focused today :)
