Surface 2 RT issue

So unexpectedly my surface is doing an update. It gets to 100% and then says "We couldn't complete the updates
Undoing changes
Don't turn off your computer"
Its been on this screen what seems to be forever. Help?

How long is forever? "forever" can really vary.
I'm reluctant to prescribe a force-shut of the device, if its busy, it risks messing with something, not likely, but possible, but if the device is idle and just hung which is more likely to be the case, it may fix it.
I'm also a tad more cavalier with my devices , but I don't know if you want to follow suit.

Well I am the same way, but choose to notify the community when I experience more extreme situations that may have been resolved by someone else before. I also chose to post this because I want to help resolve this issue for someone else experiencing the same thing.

On to the issue, after about 2 hours of the same screen and very high temps on the back side of the tablet, it just suddenly decided to go to the lock screen. Not sure why this happened, but it did. I was worried that it was stuck in some infinite loop, but it wasn't. Thanks for the "help" anyways.
